20. James Garfield 1881

James Garfield was the twentieth President of the United States of America.President Garfield’s foreign affairs during his short time as president consisted mostly of filling diplomatic positions, including writer James Russell Lowell as U.S. minister to England, and Lew Wallace, author of Ben Hur, to Turkey.

Garfield was assassinated by Charles Guiteau, who was bitter that he didn’t get chosen for an English consulate position
